i would try your local aid office-- how did the heat bill get to be $2000? My heat is very high with my water and lights in on it to and my biggest bill was $350-- that is with 6 kids showers every day and a 4 bedroom home. i would look into a different home if the heat is running that high.

Reading your postings it sounds as if you been giving for some years, that is really awesome! But with the recent loss of your mom and being depressed remember to give to yourself too. Taking  sometime off from helping people, and maybe spending a little of your hard earned money on YOU… might be helpful. Take a little vacation or something! You can't be there to help anyone if you don't take care of your top priority-- YOU!I enjoy helping people also, I am not able to give gifts money or new stuff… but I have donated my time. Right now as broke as I am, I have a friend and her 4 children staying with me. I have had to live in a shelter, and I just didn't want them to have to do it--especially over the holidays. It is hard and crowded, but feels good.

Glad to hear it all went good! We had a great one! i realized alot this thanksgiving and realized how thoughtful my children are. Besides helping the "Meals on Wheels" and delivering 15 meals this year---The family decided to do our own meals on wheels-- We took our left overs to the homeless men in the park--there is one guy who is always there. The kids loved it! And the kids asked if we could do it for christmas too! Did you read my new profile? "Change of heart..." i feel like this thanksgiving and reading this site helped me in more ways than what i could imagine!

Oh and my 11 yr old daughter spelled zymase and quixotry in our "Thanksgiving for thinking Scrabble" game-- I did not even know those words! LOVE IT!

Change of heart...

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! On Thanksgiving we decided to take the left overs to the homeless guy in the park-- he was so happy! It was a great feeling. Could of we used the left overs yes-- did it make his thanksgiving a little brighter- yes--- how do you weigh it? You can't.

Craigslist you do have to be careful, however with the teenagers and living in a big city I try to keep them as up to date as I can. I have found great clothing buys on there-- I always take a friend when doing pick ups. I got my 16 yr old son 12 name brand outfits from a lady on there for $10-- all were like brand new-- and 2 of the jeans and 3 of the shirts he had just seen in the store and wanted! To buy all those from the store would have cost over a $1000!

Last year I did have to make little promise books for my children and wrapped them up. I promised a christmas in "March"-- which we did have but it wasn't the same.

But not once did any of them complain.

I feel your stress! I have 6 kids and this year has been a very tuff one. I have always made it through the tough times and last christmas, we didn't even have a tree. My kids were so sad, but too proud of me to complain. I stay positive and believe me "staying positive" makes all the difference in the world! Hang in there!

DigitalCharity.com???

This is not a safe site and from the research I have done the people who are posting they have been helped are scammers trying to get people to believe. From posting on that web site i recieve close to 100 emails per day of scams. Warn all not to post on there!

Change of heart...

Being on here reading people's stories, my situation seems so little. Sometimes we forget the meaning of Christmas… and we take for granted what we do have. I have a home, I have a job, I have a van, I have 6 beautiful children all in good health, we eat (just not what we want all the time), we have furniture to sit on, a bed to crawl into, a yard to play in, my family has a lot to be thankful for. A little help for Christmas would be nice, but will we survive without? Yes, because we are not without-- we have all the above and some families do not.

My original posting if anyone saw it, I was asking for christmas help... however after reading some of the stories on here... i have had a change of heart. Gifts would be nice for my children, but what we have in our home is the best gift ever-- we have each other. And its FREE.
